Thymosin Alpha-1 5 mg | Immunomodulatory Research Peptide
Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1, thymalfasin) is a 28-amino-acid peptide first isolated from thymic tissue (Thymosin Fraction 5) by Allan Goldstein in the 1970s. It is one of the most extensively studied immune-modulating peptides in the world, with published research spanning infectious disease, oncology, vaccine adjuvancy, and immunodeficiency models.
Research Background
T-cell maturation — Tα1 promotes the differentiation of T-cell precursors (thymocytes) into mature, functional T-cells — particularly CD4+ helper and CD8+ cytotoxic T-cells. This is its primary studied mechanism.
Dendritic cell activation — Research shows Tα1 acts on toll-like receptors (TLR2, TLR9) on dendritic cells, enhancing antigen presentation and bridging the innate and adaptive immune responses.
Cytokine modulation — Studies report that Tα1 increases IL-2, IFN-α, and IFN-γ production while modulating pro-inflammatory cytokines, suggesting a balancing effect on immune response rather than simple stimulation.
Vaccine adjuvancy — Tα1 has been studied as an immune adjuvant to enhance vaccine responses, particularly in immunocompromised models.
