Thymalin 20 mg – Thymic Peptide Bioregulator
Thymalin is a short peptide complex originally isolated from calf thymus extract, developed as part of Professor Vladimir Khavinson’s bioregulation research programme at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. It belongs to the Khavinson class of short peptide bioregulators, alongside Epithalon, Cartalax, Cortagen, and Livagen.
Research Background
Thymic function – The thymus gland involutes (shrinks) with age, reducing T-cell output and contributing to age-related immune decline (immunosenescence). Thymalin has been studied for its ability to support thymic function and T-cell differentiation in ageing and immunocompromised models.
Immune regulation – Research reports effects on T-cell subset ratios, natural killer cell activity, and cytokine balance. Unlike broad immunostimulants, Thymalin appears to normalise immune parameters rather than simply elevate them.
Khavinson bioregulation studies – Long-term studies by the Khavinson group have investigated Thymalin’s effects on immune markers, morbidity, and lifespan in ageing models, contributing to the broader bioregulation theory of ageing.
