KPV 150 mcg Capsules – Anti-Inflammatory Tripeptide
KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is the C-terminal tripeptide of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH), the same parent molecule from which Melanotan 2 and PT-141 are derived. However, unlike its parent peptide, KPV retains potent anti-inflammatory activity while lacking melanotropic (skin-darkening) effects.
Research Background
NF-kB pathway modulation – KPV’s primary studied mechanism involves inhibition of the NF-kB (nuclear factor kappa-B) signalling pathway, a master regulator of inflammatory gene expression. By modulating NF-kB nuclear translocation, KPV reduces production of pro-inflammatory cytokines including TNF-alpha, IL-1beta, and IL-6.
Gastrointestinal research – KPV has attracted particular interest in IBD and intestinal inflammation models, where it has been studied for effects on colonic inflammation, mucosal healing, and epithelial barrier integrity. Its oral bioavailability makes it uniquely suited for GI tract research.
Antimicrobial activity – Some studies report direct antimicrobial effects against certain bacterial species, adding another dimension to its GI research profile.
